The Broadway Star Project is a New York City-based performing arts training and performance organization for young performers ages 9–18. BSP is not a youth theater program — it is a professional launchpad. Every program is designed to deliver real professional outcomes: recording credits, music videos, live performances at prestigious NYC venues, and direct access to the agents, managers, and casting directors who work in the industry.
BSP was founded by Eduardo Jimenez Pons and Coty Manriquez — working writers, directors, producers, and educators who operate inside the same industry they are preparing students to enter. That distinction is the foundation BSP was built on. Their industry experience is not a credential attached to the organization — it is the reason the organization exists in the form it does. BSP also counts two active Broadway Producers, Pamela Hurst-Della Pietra and Stephen Della Pietra, among its founding circle.
If your young performer is serious about musical theater, film, television, or voice over — not necessarily experienced, but genuinely ready to work — BSP is built for them. We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for potential. A student who loves the art form and is prepared to commit fully to a focused professional experience will thrive here. A student who is still exploring whether performing is something they love may be better served by a few more months of foundational training first — and we will tell you that honestly.
Most youth performing arts programs are taught by educators with performing backgrounds. BSP is taught by people who are actively working in the industry today — writers, directors, producers, and Broadway performers who bring the current professional standard into every session. The Summer Intensive includes a live audition in front of real agents, managers, and casting directors. The Recording Experiences produce professional cast recordings and music videos. These are not simulations. They are real professional outcomes available to young performers.
Submit an inquiry through our Contact page. Our Director of Admissions, Coty Manriquez, will follow up personally within two business days with the audition link and instructions. The audition typically involves a short video of your child performing a song — something they have prepared, in their natural voice, performing for the camera as they would in a real audition room. We review every submission personally.
Potential, not perfection. We listen for a voice that is being used with some intention — not necessarily trained, but alive. We watch for a performer who is present, committed, and genuinely engaging with the material rather than simply executing it. We are also listening for readiness: is this young performer ready to be in a professional training environment and take that seriously? That quality — readiness — matters as much as any technical ability.
We will tell you honestly and kindly, and we will never close the door. If a young performer is not yet ready for BSP programs, we will say so — and we will point toward the kind of additional training that gets them ready. Many students who have gone through BSP programs were redirected once before they were accepted. Rejection from BSP is not a verdict on your child’s talent. It is a read on timing.
BSP programs are open to young performers ages 9–18. Most programs mix ages intentionally — this reflects professional reality, where young performers work alongside people of all ages. Older students inspire younger ones; younger students challenge older ones. The one exception is the Broadway Star Experience, which is designed for ages 9–14 and divided into two age groups (9–11 and 12–14).
BSP’s flagship programs — the Summer Intensive, all Performance Opportunities, and all Recording Experiences — are offered by audition only. Acceptance means something: our team reviewed the submission and saw a young performer ready for this level of work. The Broadway Star Experience is the one open enrollment program in the BSP family, designed for younger performers who are serious about musical theater but not yet ready for the competitive intensity of the Summer Intensive.
The Summer Intensive is BSP’s most comprehensive training experience — six full days covering dance, vocal, acting, audition technique, song interpretation, and voice acting, culminating in a Broadway show outing, a live audition for industry professionals, and a final performance. It is offered by audition only and is open to ages 9–18. The Broadway Star Experience is a focused musical theater program for ages 9–14, available through open enrollment, with training in vocal, acting, and song interpretation and a final performance — without the competitive intensity of the Summer Intensive.
A Performance Opportunity is a two-day BSP experience focused on cabaret performance. Students receive coaching in vocal technique, song interpretation, and cabaret performance, then perform a group number and a solo at a prestigious New York City venue in front of family, friends, and industry guests. Every program includes two virtual pre-program sessions with the Director and Music Director, and a Broadway guest artist. Current programs include Light Up the Night, the Halloween Party, the Holiday Playlist, the Spring Playlist, and the Broadway Playlist.
A Recording Experience is a three-day BSP program that produces three professional outputs: a cast recording, a music video, and a live cabaret performance. On Day 1, students record an ensemble song in a professional recording studio. On Day 2, they shoot a music video for that song with a professional film crew. On Day 3, each student performs a solo at a prestigious New York City venue. Students leave with a recording credit, a music video, and a live performance credit. Current programs are the Cast Recording Experience and the Holiday Recording Experience.
Yes — every BSP program ends with a performance in front of a real audience. Performance Opportunities and Recording Experiences take place at The Green Room 42 or another premier New York City venue, for family, friends, and industry guests. The Summer Intensive concludes with a cabaret-style showcase and includes a separate industry audition for agents, managers, and casting directors.
Enrolled students receive a full program packet after enrollment closes — including the schedule, venue information, uniform specifications, and what to prepare. For programs requiring a solo song, students submit two song options in advance so the Music Director can make the best assignment. For Recording Experiences, the ensemble song is chosen by the creative team and shared before the pre-program sessions.
Tuition varies by program. The BSP Summer Intensive is $2,495. The Broadway Star Experience is $1,995. Recording Experiences are $1,350. Performance Opportunities are $350 plus a minimum purchase of four show tickets (starting at $19 per ticket). The Halloween Party has separate pricing — contact us for details.
Yes. Payment plans are available through Afterpay for all programs. Afterpay allows you to split tuition into installments at no additional cost to you. It is offered at checkout during enrollment.
Tuition covers all program instruction and coaching, venue costs, and the BSP uniform t-shirt included with every program. It does not cover Broadway show tickets for the Summer Intensive, the required performance ticket purchase for applicable programs, or optional BSP merchandise.
All tuition payments are non-refundable. BSP invests in faculty, venues, and production from the moment enrollment is confirmed. Tuition credits may be issued at BSP’s sole discretion in cases of documented medical emergency, applicable to a future program within one calendar year. Please review the full Enrollment Terms & Conditions before enrolling.
BSP programs take place in New York City. Training typically takes place at professional rehearsal studios in Midtown Manhattan. Performances take place at The Green Room 42 (167 W 46th St) and other premier NYC venues. Specific venue and address information is included in the program packet sent to enrolled families after hard close.
Students wear a white fitted BSP crew neck t-shirt with the BSP logo in full color (included in tuition), plain black flare-leg dance pants with no logos or graphics, and white low-top sneakers with minimal logos. The white BSP hoodie is available for additional purchase. The uniform is required from the first moment of the first day.
A parent or authorized guardian must sign students in at the start of each program day and sign them out at the end. Students will not be released to any adult not listed on the enrollment form. Late pickup may result in a fee. Full details are in the Enrollment Terms & Conditions.
Parents are welcome at the final performance of every program. During training and rehearsal days, the studio and venue are closed to parents and guests. This is intentional: young performers do their best work when they are not performing for the adults in their lives. The performance is when families see the results of the work.
Contact BSP staff immediately. A parent or guardian will be required to pick the student up. We will do what we can to support the student in re-entering the program at a natural break point, but we cannot guarantee makeup sessions or tuition credits for missed days due to illness. Please review the Enrollment Terms & Conditions for the full policy.
