BSP Summer Intensive

July 27 – August 1, 2026  ·  9:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily
Ripley Grier Studios, 305 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018

Six days of professional-level training across every discipline that defines a working musical theater performer. Students are taught by writers, directors, producers, and performers who work in the industry today — not people approximating it from the outside. The result is a young performer who understands what professional practice actually looks and feels like.

Six Disciplines. One Cohort. Six Days.

What the Summer Intensive covers.

Vocal Training

From technique to interpretation. Students work with a working Music Director on breath, range, resonance, and — most importantly — how to tell a story through a song.

Dance

Theatrical movement, staging awareness, and choreography. Taught by a working Broadway director and choreographer.

Acting

Scene work, objective-driven performance, and the skill of making choices under pressure. The tool that separates a performer from a singer.

Audition Technique

What casting rooms actually look for. How to walk in, slate, take a note, and leave having been seen. Taught by people who have been on both sides of the table.

Song Interpretation

Acting through song. The discipline BSP faculty return to in every session because it is the foundation of everything else.

Voice Acting

An introduction to the voice over market — a working, often overlooked avenue for young performers. Microphone technique, character differentiation, and copy reading.

Three Experiences You Will Not Find Anywhere Else.

Built into every Summer Intensive.

The Broadway Show

A private outing to a current Broadway production, followed by a Q&A with a performer from the show. Students see the professional standard they are working toward.

The Industry Audition

On the final day, students audition in front of real agents, managers, and casting directors — the people who actually book the work. With professional feedback.

The Final Performance

A cabaret-style showcase performance — the culmination of six days of work, performed for family, friends, and the industry professionals who attended the audition.

The Broadway Star Experience

BSP training. A gentler entry point.

The Broadway Star Experience

Dates to be announced  ·  New York City

The Broadway Star Experience brings the BSP standard to younger performers who are serious about musical theater but not yet ready for the competitive intensity of the Summer Intensive. This is not a beginner program — but it is a welcoming one. Students develop vocal, acting, and song interpretation skills in a focused environment and perform a final show that reflects the discipline of the work.

Ages 9–11  —  One group. Morning or afternoon session.

Ages 12–14  —  One group. Morning or afternoon session.

Groups are kept small to ensure each young performer receives individual coaching attention.

Vocal Training

Technique and song interpretation taught by working industry professionals. Students learn to use their voice with intention, not just volume.

Acting Through Song

The core discipline of musical theater. Students discover that performing a song and performing a story are two entirely different things — and learn to do the latter.

Stage Presence & Performance

Coaching on how to hold an audience, take direction, and carry a number from the first note to the final bow.

A Final Performance

Every session ends with a small, focused cabaret performance — a real showing of what the work produced, for family and friends.
